Herbal Remedies & Traditional Healing

(Note: always consult your doctor before trying any Holistic medicine. Mixing Natural Healing remedies w/ prescribed medications can have moderate to severe negative reactions to your health)

Since the beginning of recorded history, there has been documented evidence of Herbal practices and Natural Remedies.

Plants, roots, and trees have had an important role in the traditional lore of ancient cultures for over 5000 years and it is estimated that 70–95% of the population in developing countries continue the use of traditional medicines even in today’s modern world.

In addition to the use as food, many spices, plants and herbs as well as, some roots or tree bark have also been

utilized as medicinal relief for various illness and conditions.

There has been the practice of Traditional Healing with the wide use of herbs being mixed into healing compounds.

These medicinal mixtures of various herbal remedies to be used while healing ailments such as headache, nausea cure and natural sleep remedies.

The herbs were generally gathered from nearby woods and hills, the oils that were extracted from these herbs were then mixed into various natural cures.

A gathering of dandelion leaves could be utilized in both medicine or healthy diets to fight illness. Wild strawberries or blueberries can be utilized in salads and dressing of wild game. All contain vitamins, nutrients and immune boosting properties to improve health.

You can make a self-healing tea by boiling the fresh leaves of a Stinging Nettles plant.

(! Be sure to strain tea well through cheesecloth BEFORE drinking ! )

This removes the tiny needles that are released from the leaves while boiling the natural healing oils from the plant. It will look like a weak green tea. Add a spoon of Natural Honey and drink about 1/2 hour before bedtime for a relaxing healing n soothing sleep. You will wake up with less inflammation and less pain due to the natural healing oils(relax muscles) in the herb and antioxidants in the honey.

There are awesome benefits to choosing healthy foods over sugary fat foods and they are easy to include in your daily diet. Following a daily health food intake is very beneficial to healing our cardio levels, fight off colds and flu naturally.

You can maintain a healthy digestive tract by consuming healthy fiber foods and the more you practice, the better your body benefits. There are dozens of healthy food choices and they are filled with antioxidants and can help boost your autoimmune system naturally.

With a little research, you can learn to choose a healing healthy diet to enhance a healthy lifestyle.

Most doctors in today’s medical environment are becoming more and more open-minded to holistic and homeopathic medicine and the benefits that these healing practices produce to the patient and their relief. Even though the pharmaceutical companies give their best to simulate and mix their own versions of (supplements) vitamins and nutrients, not all of these work for everyone.

In today’s supermarkets, there is a wide range of local produce available to make the healthy diet choices we need in order to maintain certain levels of fitness and health in our daily foods. Like the antioxidants in raisins, nuts and grains/seeds.

These all boost our Omega fats, powerful cardio boosting antioxidants and detoxify our body of environmental toxins we absorb or breath in daily. Most fruits and nuts, as well as different choices of fiber, are available at our local grocery store.

We also have the choice of organic herbs and natural healing foods which are cultivated within a protected growing environment(Greenhouses) in order to perfect peak growth benefits of each plant species. This boosts the plants’ health and strength as well as the nutrients and vitamins they put out, a great benefit to our health. Everything from fresh ginger root to chives and avocado is available for our healing benefit.

Along with our daily food and diet choices, there are some common houseplants that can be beneficial to us for various healing remedies, and cosmetic benefits as well. (google”uses for aloe vera”).

A new trend involving the isolation of “plant active compounds” began during the early 19th century. This trend led to the discovery of multiple active compounds that can be extracted from the plant. In the last decade, more and more new materials derived from plants have been authorized and labeled as medicines, including those with anti-cancer activity.

Cancer (in its various forms), is among the leading causes of death in men, women and children alike worldwide. The number of new cases is expected to rise by approximately 70% over the next two decades. Thus, there is a real need for new efficient anti-cancer drugs with reduced side effects, and plants are a promising source for such entities.
Here we focus on some plant-derived substances exhibiting anti-cancer and chemo-prevention activity, their mode of action and bioavailability. (We will go into further detail on this with a future article).

As research and testing continue to produce promising results towards the healing powers that these herbs and remedies are capable of. Today, it is estimated 25–28% of all modern medicines are directly or indirectly derived from higher plants demonstrating the enormous medicinal potential of plants, that has been known for thousands of years in traditional medicine (Samuelsson, 2004; Chin et al., 2006). In the last decades, more and more new materials derived from plants have been authorized and subscribed as medicines

Our global understanding of the healing powers of certain foods and the medicinal value of various types of natural herbs are beginning to be more widely accepted, a definite benefit to our healthcare system.

Nothing comes close to the natural healing powers of homeopathic or holistic compounds and herbal remedies that have repeatedly proven, and continue to provide more positive traditional healing study results, to this day.
