My Best Home Workout for Beginners

I for one have never really been a big fan of going to a public gym to work out.

I enjoy the outdoors and prefer to spend as much time as possible being there.

Throughout my years I have secured very physically demanding jobs so my fitness and strength played a significant role in my being able to provide for my family.

I do care about my health but with a busy life and a family to help grow there is not any realistic schedule I can stick to.

Most times I have been fortunate enough to have an active life and a very physical job throughout most of my years.

This made staying fit rather easy and it blended well with work, It’s also good ergonomics too.

However, now my family has grown and this means I have even less time to run to a gym.

Being active in the outdoors is not always easy either.

There were a few times when the weather has turned bad for long periods of time so doing any activity outside was not an option.

With me being the very restless type and needing something to burn off this excess energy.
I started doing my walking both inside the house and outside when weather permitted. I have lived in the country and the bush for a few years.

There have also been numerous medical studies to provide medical evidence to support the health benefits of walking for your body. It has tremendous benefits for your heart and lungs. Walking also increases circulation of blood and oxygen to all the crucial organs which help to keep them functioning healthily.

You can incorporate other muscle toning movements or, concentrated muscle control exercises, into your walking routine. Along with a blend of focused breathing techniques and, You will soon reap the amazing rewards of this practice.

Simple little techniques like, while you are walking focus on the lower abdomen muscle and try to flex this muscle.
Do the first 2 or 3 flex’s slowly in and out( concentrate on lower ab muscle flexing only) as you breath in a relaxed, focused, walking pattern.

Then on the 3rd rep flex and hold in the flexed position as you walk with an upright posture pose stride. Hold flexed for 10 seconds(or 10 steps) and go back to slow relaxed breathing with NO Flex muscles.

Be sure not to force or push out on the ab muscle while flexing.

Let your muscles relax for a count of 15 to 20 seconds and repeat the flexion and breathing while walking.
Next set concentrate on upper abs.

I also do not recommend overworking the lower abs which are easily done when you first begin to practice this technique.

I walk for longer periods of time so, I do this flex technique for roughly 3 to 5 minutes(lower abs first set, then upper abs next), then rest for 30 minutes before attempting another round of “flex steps” as I call them.

You will notice the effects after the first few tries and remember to not over flex and breathe or you could cause unnecessary strain on the muscles(painful)
This does take some practice for the first few tries but once you get practiced at it you almost start the process of flexing just thinking about it so it comes as a natural walking pattern after a while.

Another great asset to invest in is a treadmill for home use.

I have been through the walking and riding through different weather (and animal) patterns for too long.
I got me a perfect treadmill for home and this machine is what completes my home gym.

Now, I don’t need to walk outside(dirt roads @ harvest time), inside (pacing around my house, up and down the stairs), at the local school track(with a football team grunting out a practice), in the mall(end up shopping :), or down the streets and pathways anymore.

The best way to accomplish your goal when it comes to fitness is to be sure that you are comfortable with how and where you do your fitness workouts.

If you are self-conscious and are put off by the idea of starting any fitness routine, and prefer not to do this publicly, well, do it @ home where you are comfortable. You will be of better benefit with this because you have a better chance of sticking to your Goal.

Maybe later when you feel comfortable you can get outdoors and reap the benefits of wide open spaces to keep fit and feel your best.

Remember once you get outdoors and doing your walking, You can still practice your flex steps(muscle control) workout at the same time. The best part is, only you know you are doing them.

Wear a pair of headphones to look as if you are listening to something. This deters people from talking to you and helps you stay focused on your workout.

Now like I was saying, I have wanted a treadmill in my home for years. My friend had offered an older model one, it was electric and did fold up for convenience. I loved it!

I kept it in a spare room and did my workout staring at a poster of trees on the wall while listening to the radio.

This was while my children were growing and the idea of being able to add to my home (house-)workout and still be available for my family, was exciting. I used this for a few years and realized how the prices for the option of having this easy machine were becoming more and more affordable to the average consumer.

So, I finally decided to go shopping for a new one.
Well, the choices for this sort of fitness equipment that is available to the consumer today are, let us just say “endless”.

It can be like shopping for a new car. So many different makes and models to choose from. Options are diverse and powertrain comes into effect here as well. You want to be well informed of the simplicity and comfort of operating this machine that you will be literally walking all over daily for a few years. The choices are endless.

I had looked at a few different models and brands to decide what I needed and wanted. It wasn’t easy with the variety available today.

The different brands like HomeFit, NewFit, Nordic Track, Horizon and ProForm and on and on….too many to choose from.
I decided to pick the top 3 treadmill options,(in my personal interests), and make my choice from there.

My Top Choice Treadmill is…The ProForm 505 CST folding treadmill.

You see I have an older model ProForm 485cx(folds up too). And it has been unbelievably dependable. I cannot complain about this brand at all. Still, I was starting to find it a little heavy at times to fold up,(made of older, heavier, light grade steel materials), so I had been just leaving it down. Well, they no longer make this specific model. So I went 1 step up and I am thrilled with the new model!

With my new ProForm 505 CST, I don’t have that issue anymore. They have improved significantly with design and lightweight materials. If I do need to fold this one up, It’s easy, peasy!

This new ProForm Treadmill has been a wonderful addition to my home fitness equipment. (I also own a Total Gym).

It is my largest investment thus far and worth every penny in my opinion.

With this machine and my weights, jump rope, pulley’s(for rotator stretches), fitness ball, yoga mat, and resistance bands. I can do any workout at any level I choose. All in the comfort of my own home.

Remember, purchasing a treadmill for home use is an investment in your Health, yourself and your healthy future.
